After the Spanish Civil War, Carmela joins the militias alongside thousands of other women. Her struggle is twofold: to confront fascism and defend the freedoms won during the Second Republic. In combat, a homemade grenade amputates the hand with which she had held her ideals and her weapon in defense of her rights.
